Furthermore, they must commit to an ongoing ethical code of practice and continuing professional development.
Only a select number of around 10% of practicing financial advisers or financial planners in the UK have achieved chartered financial planner status.

A. At Glenearn Wealth we offer a personal service where we aim to treat you as a person not a number. The firm principal, David Watson, is a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society with over 26 years of experience in financial services.
Q. How do you charge for your services?
A. Commission was banned for financial advice on investments and pensions in the UK on 31st December 2012. We charge fees for our advice, and will confirm in writing what these will be after our initial meeting.

Q. What does being an Appointed Representative of Quilter Financial Services Limited mean?
A. Glenearn Wealth Management has chosen to operate as an Appointed Representative of Quilter Financial Services Limited, who are a part of Quilter Financial Planning. This is a network of around 3,000 financial advisers throughout the UK. This allows us to provide regulated financial advice under the authorisation and supervision of Quilter Financial Planning. This saves us the time, cost and compliance burden of being a directly authorised firm.
Q. Are you an Independent Financial Adviser?
A. Glenearn Wealth Management is an independently owned firm, and we offer restricted advice.
Q. Why do we provide restricted advice?
A. By leveraging Quilter’s expertise, research and governance, and restricting our comprehensive advice service to a carefully chosen range of products and providers, we are able to keep costs down and focus on providing a great service.
Quilter’s research starts with the whole of market, with products and investments going through a tough selection process before arriving at a recommended panel. We only select from this panel where there is a demonstrable benefit to you.
Q. Do you have a minimum level of investment before you would take me on as a client?
A. Our typical clients have between £200k & £10m of investments and pensions under our advice, however we do not have a formal minimum level of investment and are happy to offer an initial meeting to anybody to see if we can help and add value.
Q. How much do you charge for an initial meeting?
A. We offer an initial meeting at our expense to establish whether we feel we can add value to your circumstances and to allow you to establish whether we are the type of firm you wish to work with.
Q. How can I book an initial meeting?

Q. Where are meetings held?
A. David tends to meet most clients in our office at King James VI Business Centre in Perth, however he deals with clients from the South of England to the North of Scotland, so if you would prefer to meet via TEAMS or Zoom we are happy to accommodate this.
Q. Do you have parking?
A. Free parking is available at King James VI Business Centre.
Q. What do I need to bring with me to the initial meeting?
A. Please bring proof of ID i.e. passport or driving licence along with details of any existing investments, pensions & insurance policies that you have.
Q. What do you charge for a financial plan?
A. We charge a minimum fee of £1,795 for a comprehensive financial plan. Additional fees will apply for formal advice in relation to pensions and investments and for our ongoing services. These can vary depending on your circumstances and so will be confirmed in writing before you proceed.
Q. Can you advise on Final Salary / Defined Benefit pension transfers?
A. We are not currently authorised to provide advise on Final Salary / Defined Benefit pension transfers, however, may be able to put you in touch with a someone who is, feel free to get in touch.
Q. Do I have to sign up to your services at the initial meeting?
A. No, by the end of the first meeting we should be in a position to establish whether we feel our advice and services will be of value to you. After the initial meeting we will confirm our fees in writing, and you can then make an informed decision as to whether you wish to proceed.
Q. If I become a client how long am I tied in to use your services?
A. You are not tied into our ongoing services, though if you do commit to formal advice and decide to pull out mid way through the process, we reserve the right to charge a minimum fee which will be confirmed in writing at the start of the process.
